John Denver Mayhem
Silent whispers and sounds of fall
Customs dictate necessarity for human beings and parties that consistof human beings to introduce themselves. But how to introduce something that you are not sure of what it is at the moment? Or is it at all and is one just writing an obituary rather than biography?
That is the crux of the problem when it comes to John Denver Mayhem, a group that at least used to consist of human beings who play and make music. I guess in a case like this man is compelled to tell what he is sure of and leave everything else up for interpretation.
Well, John Denver Mayhem Was a band that played melancholic acoustic guitar oriented rock music and did some gigging mainly in the area of Kuopio, Finland. The band, however, got sort of tired gigging when it did not seem advance the prospects of getting anywhere in the music business.
So the band went on a hiatus. Still, in the end, Markku and me felt that songs we had played were pretty good and they should have been recorded for future generations to hear and to be remembered.
Thus, in the fall of 2008 Markku and me called up Joona and Juha, and asked if they could spare one week from their lives to record the songs that would end on this album we are now finally releasing. The recording went surprisingly well and all basic tracks for the songs were recorded live during one week's time. After that It took three years of on/off mixing from me and Markku to get this album done, that is, because it was also a learning process of mixing and record producing for us.
Now the album is finally ready and we are proud of it. Now it just begs the question of what John Denver Mayhem is? Is it a band, a studio project or just a collection of songs by Jukka and Markku? It is hard to say and all we can do is see if people like this album, listen to it and buy it. If so, maybe there will be a time in a future for John Denver Mayhem to evolve onward from this state of obscurity.
